Storytelling is my superpower.

From a young age, I was telling stories to any audience that would listen—my parents, my friends and family. Stories are in my blood. I grew up in the historic Lower 9th Ward of New Orleans, Louisiana. One day my best friend dared me to write a book since I'd been writing poetry and short stories for years. The next year, that fateful dare became the "blue notebook" phenomenon that put me on the map as an author. I'm now a graduate of Southern University at New Orleans and the historic McDonogh 35 Senior High School, where I first fell in love with writing. For me, there's nothing quite like being able to create a world with words where people can find refuge from their own troubles—even if just for a few short hours.
